The Fleece is located in the market town of Cirencester, in east Gloucestershire, an hour away from Bath and Oxford and just under two hours away from London. We’re a traditional coaching inn and a Grade II listed building. Our history stretches as far back as 1651. Following defeat at the Battle of Worcester in the same year, King Charles II is believed to have used the building as a hiding place when he was forced to flee from Oliver Cromwell’s New Model Army. You’ll be able to sleep much easier than the fugitive king did, though, in any one of our 28 inviting guest rooms. In 2011, the inn underwent a full refurbishment to provide maximum, modern comfort while remaining loyal to the character of our 17th-century building.
