As long as the world has had people there has been a lust for
traveling. No matter where we go or what we do, we can never
get enough of it. You know what they say though, 'where there's
room for passion theres room for a hotel booking agency'.
Remember back to the the 1980s...
| If
you're too young to remember the 80s
- imagine a place where men looked like
and where all women looked like
and |
Now, by the 1980s it may have no longer been the norm to wear
offensive beards and tank tops, but the human race was far from
hitting divinity.
For instance there was no such thing as 'easy travel' (see where
we're going with this now?). No siree, if you wanted to get away
somewhere nice, you'd generally find yourself resorting to the
stack of outdated guide books.
Many people had no idea how infuriating travel planning was until
they'd been wow-ed by a certain new company. Que Infotel (thats
us!).
We first opened our phone lines in 1989 and our purpose was simple;
find the most suitable hotels for clients in the UK. The service
and friendliness of our Agents proved hugely popular and by popular
demand we introduced an 'over the phone' booking facility shortly
after.
Things really started to go crazy during the early 90s, and by
1995 we'd not only moved into some posh new offices, we'd also
been one of the first daring few to venture into cyberspace.
Getting hooked up to the web so early let us build quickly on
a dedicated userbase, most of whom are still happily using us
today.
The improvements the internet brought to the public were enormous
- people could browse hotels as if they were browsing a catalogue.
Booking confirmations and travel directions could be printed off.
This new website malarky had just totally reinvented travel planning.
Going global
As the naughties came, we were ready to make another bold leap
- international reservations. Instant room bookings were finally
available in any hotel we listed across the world.
Onward and upward
In 2006, after years of development and work we announced the
broad new range of packages that we could provide to our users,
flights, cruises, holidays, trains, car hire, restaurants, insurance...the
list goes on.
