Guests at the The George might have a strict time regime or may not even need to hear a clock ticking during their stay.
So, we don’t hold you to ransom over when you must have breakfast, leave your room, or anything else! The luxury is in the choice of food, the wine, the bed linen, the art on the walls and the people looking after you.
Our look is a mix of old and new furniture and art; combining colours and beautiful fabrics with original vintage features and existing distressed walls.
Cheaper materials are treated as precious items and preserved for their beauty and memory of the Inn. The relaxed atmosphere and pleasant surrounds sell themselves; you will not be disappointed!
In our beautifully designed restaurant, you can dine on delicious food in the lap of luxury, with music in the background and without breaking the bank.
Everything has been done at The George’s restaurant to make for a glamorous and sophisticated experience that can be enjoyed by all. Our varied menu stretches from comfortably traditional dishes to exciting overseas classics.
Our top-end steaks, Pancetta Wrapped Monkfish and Risotto are all cooked to perfection and served at competitive prices. With an extensive cocktail lounge and wide selection of carefully chosen wines, you can spend what you like at The George’s restaurant.

With stylish, white décor and sleek, en suite bathrooms, each room provides freshly ground coffee, an iPod docking station and a flat-screen TV/DVD player. Free Wi-Fi is available, and guests can relax with luxury toiletries and soft towels. Some rooms offer vintage French furniture and luxurious, deep baths.
Run by Tom Blake from TV’s River Cottage with Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall, the restaurant uses the finest local ingredients to serve simple, hearty dishes that change daily. Classic, afternoon tea is available, along with outdoor dining on the terrace.
Free parking is available, and Cheddar Gorge is only 3 miles from The Swan, and Bristol is 20 miles away. Wookey Hole Caves are a 20-minute drive, and Shipham Riding Stables are less than 7 miles away. |
