Soulton Hall Hotel, Shrewsbury

Soulton Hall Hotel
Soulton Road, Shrewsbury

Rooms from 56.50 GBP
Historic Soulton Hall is a striking country house in the intriguing, unspoilt county of Shropshire. Still cherished as the family home of the Ashtons for over 450 years, it combines the comfort of a luxury Country House Hotel with a friendly and distinctly personal approach. Soulton Hall enjoys a unique location: approached over an ancient stone bridge crossing a babbling brook in glorious Shropshire countryside. Beyond Soulton Hall's tranquil walled gardens lies 500 acres of private country estate and woodland. The converted Soulton Court was built in 1783 as stables and its stone-flagged floor, and beams make it an ideal venue for private dining, weddings and conferences. Our menu changes every day and uses as much home produce as possible (such as game, fruit, and honey from our own hives); indeed it is common for our guests to be able to glance out of the window at the garden in which ingredients in their meal were grown. The Ashton family and their staff look forward to welcoming you here.

Church Street, CHIRK

Rooms from 55.00 GBP
Frank Cooper and his hotel team welcome you to the Hand Hotel, located in Chirk. Now under new ownership, the hotel has been extensively re-furbished to provide you with great accommodation at competitive rates. We are located in North Wales, in the picturesque Ceiriog valley with easy access to the Offa’s Dyke National Trail and are also close to Llangollen and Wrexham. We also have a train station just a quick 2 minute walk away so access to transport links at the Hand Hotel are easy and convenient. The Hotel was originally built in 1690, during the reign of James 1st of England, who was also James IV of Scotland and is one of the oldest hotels in Wales. It is situated on the border between England and Wales and is a prime location for the discerning traveller. Close to historic Chirk Castle built by Edward I with its beautiful Gardens and Chirk’s own dual aqueduct built by the famous Thomas Telford and viaduct built by Henry Robertson the Hand Hotel is in a prime location. The more famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which has been recently designated a World Heritage Site is also close to the hotel. Again built by Thomas Telford, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, or ‘the stream in the sky’ as it is sometimes called, was completed in 1801 and stands at an impressive 126 feet tall and 1007 feet long, with stunning views over the Ceiriog Valley and is still acknowledged as a major feat of engineering today. Activities, whether it be rambling, cycling, canoeing or fishing you’re interested in, you’ll find that there’s something for everyone here. You may want to visit John “Iron Mad” Wilkinson’s well known Bersham Ironworks or perhaps meet “Brymbo man”, Wrexham’s oldest resident at 3,500 years old, at Wrexham County Borough Museum. Then again maybe watching a football match or going on a shopping spree is more your thing, either way no matter what your interests are you’ll always find something to do during your stay at the Hand Hotel. The Hand Hotel in Chirk is close to an array of modern day conveniences and is one of the best hotels to stay at while in and around Wrexham.
