Delightfully designed around a courtyard setting, the Park Head Country Hotel and Restaurant has all the facilities one would expect from a modern city centre hotel whilst enjoying a delightful rural setting with views over County Durham.

All rooms are en-suite and are spacious and were refurbished in May 2008. The main hotel offers seven traditional coaching inn style rooms and a beautiful new bridal suite for those people having their weddings receptions and civil ceremonies at the hotel.
The courtyard has twenty-two rooms and two suites suitable decorated in a more contemporary style. Each room is en-suite and we believe them to be amongst the msot spacious offered in the area.
The bar serves food from 11am to 9-30pm every day and on Sunday we have a traditional carvery offering up to four choices of home-cooked meats complemented by a choice of potatoes and vegetables and our famous Yorkshire Puddings.

There’s a tempting selection of home made pizzas with toppings such as chicken, onion and sweet chilli sauce or tuna, onion and assorted peppers, as well as the usual favourites, cheese and tomato, pepperoni, ham and pineapple and vegetarian. Pasta comes in a variety of penne, spagehetti, tagliatelli or wheat free, all of which are accompanied by a selection of sauces, bolognese, carbonara and seafood to name but a few. There’s also Alan’s choice pieces of chicken breast tossed in sweet chilli sauce. For those of you who can’t decide you can have best of both, pizza and half pasta is only £7.25 per person. Also available in the tea time bistro is a number of starters, salads and favourite dishes such as homemade 6oz beef burger served in soft floured bap with homemade chips, as well as a good selection of homemade desserts.
If you fancy treating yourself to a mid week carvery lunch, you can do so Monday to Friday between 12 and 2 pm, main courses are from £6. For weekend dining, try the traditionally served three course Sunday and coffee is included for only £14.95 per person, which is served in the Wedgwood restaurant between 12 -1.30 pm, however, private dining in one of our Bistros is available on request at no extra cost.
There is also a Steak menu offering hearty Fillet Steak or Sirlon Steak cooked to suit your requirements and served with fried onions, mushrooms and tomato with prices ranging from £12.50 to £15.95. If you'd prefer your steak a tad different then choose from Steak Diane, sliced prime fillet brushed in French mustard flamed in brandy and cooked with onions, mushrooms and fresh cream, or Peppered Steak - sliced prime fillet flamed in brandy and cooked in a creamy white sauce with red, green and black peppercorns, to name but a few.
Not only does the Hardwicke Manor Hall offer fine food and wine, the hotel is perfect for that special event. The Hotel is situated close to the nature reserve of Castle Eden Dene and can cater for any private function and would be an ideal setting for a fairy tale wedding, where the bride and groom would have exclusive access to the Manor, as there would be no other wedding booked for the same day.  |
