Built in 1885, in the Italian style, as a private residence, the main feature of this imposing building is the attractive tower at its northeast corner. It has a wealth of ornamental ceiling cornices, beautiful architraves and is crowned by an impressive balustrade. It is not surprising to find this is a classified Grade Two Listed Building. Set in its very own pleasant leafy grounds, it retains an air of bygone elegance and class.
Having wide and easy access to the main road at either end of its sweeping drive along with ample parking space, it has made an admirable transformation to its new life as one of the areas leading hotels.
The bedrooms are spacious, some of which are named after prominent people in the history of Harwich and Dovercourt.

Our magnificent restaurant retains all its delicately sculpted ceiling mouldings and cornices that have been faithfully restored and repaired in the original pastel colours whilst crystalline chandeliers are suspended from intricate ceiling roses.
