Built in 1972, St. James Hotel catered to the thriving fishing and food industries by providing relaxing comfortable accommodation. The establishment has survived many adjustments through the years, from changes in ownership to becoming a stand-alone hotel in the late 1980’s and now St. James Hotel is still a roaring success 40 years later.
Within the Hotel there are 125 rooms, all of which boast an en-suite bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, a telephone, television and free WiFi. On the ground floor is The Chantry Restaurant which serves a delicious variety tasty of dishes, 7 days a week. The restaurant along with the relaxing bar and lounge area is available for hire for a wide variety of functions. Conferencing suites which are suitable for seminars, presentations and meetings can be customised to suit individual requirements and essential equipment is provided along with refreshments and meals.
One reason for the continued success of St. James Hotel is its ideal location; it is close to a number of family-friendly amenities, a bustling shopping centre and a busy weekend nightlife.
Now St. James is always looking forward to the future, by starting a new soft interior revamp. Guests can expect new bedding and curtains to give the rooms a more stylish modern look. Phase three of the refurbishment is due to start shortly.

The building was bombed and badly damaged in 1944 and rebuilt in 1946. In 1986 part of the Kenwick Estate was developed into a 72par 18 hole Championship Golf Course followed in 1992 the opening of 19 bedroomed hotel. The hotel is independently owned by a local family. The hotel and estate has continued to be developed, in 1994 a leisure complex was developed, Kenwick Health and Leisure Club and in 2000 a further ten bedrooms were added.
During the development stages the original Georgian Hall has been sympathetically converted and extended to create a stunning location.
Here at Best Western Kenwick Park we have a selection of rooms with superb views of the lawns and gold course, some rooms overlook the leisure club and woodland.
