Rooms from 85.00 GBP | History comes alive as you wander across the immaculate grounds of Littlecote House, which is a superb Grade I listed Tudor mansion in Berkshire. Indeed this is where Henry VIII wooed Jane Seymour, so the house oozes with romance and history. Enjoy its sumptuous stately rooms, stunning Great Hall and the walled gardens with herbaceous borders, which burst into life during spring.
The original Littlecote House was built during the 13th and 14th centuries as part of a medieval settlement and was inhabited by the de Calstone family from around 1290. When William Darrell married Elizabeth de Calstone he inherited the house and his family went on to build the original brick mansion in the early 16th century. In 1804 Littlecote passed into the hands of the Leyborne-Pophams and throughout the centuries has been visited by royalty such as Henry VIII who courted Jane Seymour at Littlecote, Charles II and William of Orange.
