The West Country Inn is a 16th Century Coaching Inn, ideally situated on the A39 Atlantic Highway between Bideford and Bude and 4 miles from Clovelly. It is set within its own 2.5 acres of land, surrounded by moorland and unspoilt countryside offering great food, drink and accommodation. Apart from the holiday maker, we are ideal for travelling business people who require a convenient, comfortable place to stop overnight. Situated at the bottom of a steep hill, this fantastic place is steeped in history.
The main building has been a hotel since 1886, but in days gone by it has been among other things, a bank, an oast house and the bar was the stables. Above the bar were the corn and hay lofts, which are now some of the bedrooms.
