Racing at Ayr is outstripped only by golfing for its popularity. As well as Seafield and Belleisle (which are only five minutes drive) there is Old Prestwick, St. Cuthberts & St. Nicholas nearby.
Ayr is the birthplace of Rabbie Burns, the National Bard, and no trip to Ayr is complete without a tour of the local attractions, such as Burns Cottage and the acclaimed Tam O'Shanter Experience, both within 5 minutes of the Abbotsford. Other local attractions include Culzean and Kelburn, two beautiful examples of National Trust estates in Ayrshire. During the summer months Ayr is the departure point for trips on the unique Waverley, the last sea-going paddle steamer in the world.
