A warm welcome awaits at The George & Dragon.  We are situated in the picturesque, quintessentially English town of Long Melford in Suffolk and provide real ales, good home cooked food and regular live entertainment. Our inn is a building that shows the passage of time and history. It's quirky, interesting, character filled and individual. If you are looking for the uniformed certainty of the corporate chain owned 'lodge' or 'inn', then you will be disappointed.

Our 12 en-suite bedrooms are all different in size and layout with each one offering something different. However all rooms provide the essentials such as: En-suite facilities. Crisp, fresh linen on comfortable beds, TV, Tea & coffee making facilities, Full English or continental breakfast included.

The George & Dragon Inn is our historic Suffolk coaching inn with its inherent character and traditional charm. It is that traditional quality that we strive to maintain and preserve, delivering what is expected from such an establishment. We have a lovely mix of people that make up our clientele - locals, business travellers and visitors all enjoy each other's company in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. In the winter, coal and log fires entice you in from the cold and in summer our extensive gardens and courtyard offer al fresco dining and a place to relax in the sun.

Our very large heated umbrella (7m x 5m) offers undercover space for smokers (and drinkers!) in all weathers and welcome shade in the summer. The “shed” as it has become fondly known, is a thatched dining pavilion seating up to 8 in comfort, ideal for that special occasion or private party. We have a function room in the garden that is used for meetings, presentations or as a private dining room.
