Built in the 1860's as the grand home of a rich Edinburgh barrister, The Royal Ettrick remained a private residence until it was converted into a hotel during the 1940's. The Royal Ettrick Hotel is situated less than fifteen minutes by bus to Princes Street and linked to the heart of the old town by The Union Canal making access to Edinburgh's major attractions quick and simple. The hotel offers 18 bedrooms situated across all three floors of the property, and upstairs accommodation is accessed via the original ornate staircase. Traveling
From the Airport follow signs to Edinburgh city centre along the A8, through Corstorphine, Murrayfield and Haymarket. At the West End of Princes Street, turn right into Lothian Road and follow the signs to the A702 through 5 sets of traffic lights. At Tollcross (clocktower in the middle of the junction) veer right into Home Street. At the 2nd set of traffic lights by the Kings Theatre, turn right into Gilmore Place. Continue along Gilmore Place for at least half a mile over 2 sets of lights. After the 2nd set of lights, continue straight over the mini roundabout into Polwarth Terrace and take the first road on your left after the tennis courts and bowling green. The Royal Ettrick hotel is located on the corner of Ettrick Road. Take the first road on the right into Ettrick road and the car park is situated on the left hand side.
