This coaching inn was built in 1739 and is the second oldest stone building in the village. It has been carefully and lovingly restored, yet still retains all its character and charm, having oak beams and log fires in the winter months. All the bedrooms are tastefully decorated with excellent facilities. Dine in style in our restaurant with a wide choice of dishes all freshly prepared to order.
Whether you need to rest those weary feet after a long walk through the Wolds, you’re attending a wedding locally, or you’re a business person who needs a friendly place to stay the accommodation on offer at The Fox is well within your reach.
We have 12 letting rooms each en-suite with tea/coffee, TV, free wifi and all the other home comforts you would expect.
The rooms are a mixture of doubles, singles, twins and family but we do try to oblige any reasonable requests.
You can stay for a night or two, but you can also stay on a medium to long term basis if that is what’s needed.
Breakfast is served each morning in the restaurant and offers a full choice of cereals, toast, full English, juice and hot drinks. Just what you need before going out to explore the beautiful countryside surrounding the pub.
The Bar
In our bar area you will find original beams and two original fireplaces which are a warming sight on any cold wintery day. These set the atmosphere of an inviting and friendly pub where all are welcome.
As a CAMRA pub, alongside the usual types of lager and bitter you will find regularly changing guest ales to suit all taste buds. For those who prefer the grape to the grain we have an extensive wine list, which offers wines from both the new and old world producers.
If you’re feeling hungry, we offer a lunchtime and daily menu in the bar full of good quality, locally sourced food. Our lunchtime sandwiches are very popular and a great rivalry exists among our chefs as to whose sandwich is the current favourite with our customers.
Children of all ages are welcomed both in the bar and the restaurant. We have a special children’s menu and a good supply of colouring pages and pencils to keep those little ones amused while you can enjoy our food, drink and hospitality.
Well behaved dogs are permitted in the bar area, we just ask that you respect our other customers when bringing your dogs in.
