The original building is at the front of 'The Plough' and the bar and adjacent room at the rear was a shippon and dates back to 1600.The beer used to be brought up from the cellar in large jugs and served to travellers in the lamp lit bar and smoky snug. The oak beams, the half-timbered facade and the roaring log fires have all been retained and contribute to the character and ambience of the pub.
In 1985, the garages at the rear of the pub were converted, providing impressive accommodation with eight double, en-suite rooms. The bedrooms were created by top London designer Michael Priest of Belgravia, who is also the interior designer for Raymond Blanc's 'Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons' and Inverlockie Castle. Further 9 bedrooms added in 2005
In 1997 the construction and restoration of the old barn commenced. Although it looks as if it has always been here, the barn is originally from Wales, where it watched over the Welsh. Now serves award winning meals and provides excellent venue for weddings, functions and meetings.
