The Abbotsford is a family-run hotel established in 1966 in a residential area 5 minutes walk from Ayr town centre. Our Management and staff create a warm and informal atmosphere and always ensure your stay is both comfortable and relaxing. The Hotel offers well appointed, comfortable bedrooms, all with ensuite facilities, televisions and central heating. We have 2 bars, both enjoyed by the natives, who are classified as friendly. Our restaurant is a popular local eating spot, offering both traditional and alternative menus and utilising the wealth of local produce. The Abbotsford is 2 minutes drive from Belleisle and Seafield Golf Courses, which are visible from the Hotel. The original Open Championship Course of Old Prestwick and 2 of the current championship courses, Turnberry and Royal Troon, are readily accessible from the Abbotsford. Altogether there are 32 golf courses in Ayrshire and we would be delighted to help you choose from this wide selection and take care of all necessary reservations. Racing at Ayr is outstripped only by golfing for its popularity. As well as Seafield and Belleisle (which are only five minutes drive) there is Old Prestwick, St. Cuthberts & St. Nicholas nearby. Ayr is the birthplace of Rabbie Burns, the National Bard, and no trip to Ayr is complete without a tour of the local attractions, such as Burns Cottage and the acclaimed Tam O'Shanter Experience, both within 5 minutes of the Abbotsford. Other local attractions include Culzean and Kelburn, two beautiful examples of National Trust estates in Ayrshire. During the summer months Ayr is the departure point for trips on the unique Waverley, the last sea-going paddle steamer in the world.
