The perfect base for theatre lovers
Hull has two excellent theatres offering year-round entertainment. The famous Spring Street Theatre, home to Hull Truck Theatre Company, is centrally located close to Hull Train Station. This theatre is where John Godber, one of the most performed writers in the English language, joined as Artistic Director in 1984 and stayed for more than 21 years. His plays, such as Bouncers, Teechers and Up ‘n’ Under are still performed to this day.
Hull New Theatre is the place to enjoy the big shows, musicals and family entertainment. Built in 1939, this plucky theatre has survived a few scares, including a direct hit during the war and the threat of being turned into a bingo hall in the 60s. Both theatres are a short ten-minute drive from The Kingstown Hotel.
