Builtin 1891 as the “Leeds and County Liberal Club” to the designs of localarchitects Chorley and Connon, active Liberals and members of the club, thehotel is situated in one of the most distinctive terracotta brickwork buildingsin Leeds. Recognised by the Leeds Civic Trust Historic “Blue Plaques Scheme” in2004 as one of the city’s most striking buildings. At the time of constructionthe Liberal Party dominated the administration of Leeds and the party wished tohave a lavish political club which reflected their standing in the city. Todaythe hotel still exhibits many of the original features and characteristics ofthe club, from the elaborate entrance with wrought iron gates flanked byCorinthian columns, to the grand oak staircase with ornate balustrades offinely carved oak and lion finials, sweeping upwards to The Gallery lit by fivetall stained-glass windows which illustrate the coat of arms of five Yorkshiretowns emphasising the County element of the club. The circular Oak Room,decorated with intricately handcrafted oak panels and an ornate ceiling,functioned as a committee room and a luxurious private dining room for members.At its height the Leeds and County Liberal Club could cater for 1,600 memberspaying 3 guineas a year membership fee.
Withthe decline of the Liberal Party, the membership of the club equally declinedand by the 1920s part of the building had been let as offices. In 1947 thebuilding was converted entirely to offices until purchased by the previousowner, The Eton Group, who renovated it as the luxurious Quebecs hotel. Regularguests include Coldplay, Joan Rivers, Vic Reeves, David Trimble and RussellBrand.
Quebecs offers a 24 hour Reception facility available to assist guests with making restaurant reservations, arranging for spa appointments, recommending night life hot spots, booking transportation, the purchasing of tickets to special events and tours of local attractions. The hotel additionally offers daily house newspapers, luggage assistance and storage, fax and photocopying facilities. The hotel has both wired and wireless internet access in all rooms. Wireless internet access is additionally available in all public areas.

Located in the Financial & Legal Quarter just off City Square, Quebecs is only 300 metres from Leeds City Station and only a five minute walk from the prestigious Victoria Quarter famed as Leeds’ luxury shopping destination. A few streets away is the renowned Greek Street and Park Row intersection which provides a diverse range of options for eating and drinking.
From the M1 follow signs for Leeds City Centre M621. Take Junction 3 off the M621 and follow signs for the City Centre Loop.
From the A1 take the A64 York turning off the A1 and follow signs to Leeds which will bring you to the inner ring road flyover, just before the flyover turn left following signs for the M621 until you reach the City Centre Loop.
Quebec Street forms part of the one way City Centre Loop so take caution not to miss us as you will have to go round the whole loop again. When you pass the Hilton Hotel (on your left) and go under the railway bridge move into the middle lane still following signs for Leeds City Centre. As you come through City Square ensure you are in the left hand lane and look out for the Quebecs flags.
Parking: Being a city centre location there is limited parking available at the hotel. The seven available spaces are allocated on a “first come, first served basis” at a charge of £15 per night. Due to the limited spaces the hotel cannot pre-book spaces for guests. Pull up outside and pop in or ring the Reception, and we will advise on space availability and give access to the car park.
Additional parking is available to Quebecs guests at Q-Park Criterion Place (Sat Nav LS1 4AG). With a total of 500 spaces available 24/7 at a reduced charge of £12.95 per 24 hours, standard charge £18.00. Park your car, take your ticket and on check out we will issue a voucher for use on exit.
Take the left hand exit from Leeds City Station following signage to City Square, cross the road and walk down the right hand side of the building to your left onto Quebec Street, the hotel entrance is on the left side of the street. Two services an hour reach London from Leeds in just over two hours.
