Bradford

The city of Bradford is, unjustly, largely unknown for its astonishing cultural offerings, despite attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors to its streets every year.

The National Media Museum (once known as the National Museum for Film and Photography) is officially the most visited museum outside of the capital city. This unique and innovative museum houses collections of photography and cinematography equipment, and takes visitors through the history of media development. The museum also houses the IMAX cinema that boasts the largest screen in the world.

Bradford is also home to one of only two World Heritage sites in the Yorkshire region. The town of Saltaire is a ‘model town’, built in the 19th Century by Titus Salt in order to improve the social conditions of local workers. The town was listed in 2001 in recognition of its worldwide influence on town planning.

While Bradford’s nightlife certainly isn’t the most hectic in the north, the city does boast numerous upmarket and lively music venues and nightclubs. A range of musical tastes is catered for, and there is the selection of student-orientated venues that one would expect from a university city.

Catering for its huge volume of tourism, Bradford city centre boasts an array of cheap accommodation, UK hotel chains and discount hotels.
