The bed linen had not be changed and there was a clump of dark hairs on my pillow as well as stains. The shower had been removed from the bathroom wall, leaving bare wood and gaping holes. The sink in the bathroom was cracked and chipped and dirty. Tiles were missing from around the bath and the side of the bath was broken. THere was one used small soap in the bathroom and towels. There was no shampoo, hair dryer, iron available. There was a kettle, one cup (full of dust), no coffee, tea, in the room which was sorted out for us.
I asked to have the room cleaned and bed linen changed and later that night a female staff member did change the bed linen and replaced it with unironed duvet covers, sheets and pillow covers. The sink was not cleaned and the floor not swept. The corridor to the bedroom had part of the ceiling missing. Part of the stair carpet was loose. There was no lift so it was very difficult to access the bedroom with my 93 year old travelling companion with limited mobility.
So basically I was appalled at the dirtiness of the 'hotel' and wondered about health and safety standards. Neither was there any food available in the hotel, except breakfast.
