Saturday evening I missed a dinner as I have bad knees and wasn't able to walk all the stairs. I`m going back to Birmingham in December, but I'm not sure if I'm going to book Briar Rose, because of this. You question If I would stay at this hotel again isn't either yes or no, I don't know! said: "I ended in this hotel by chance needing a room at the very last minute, so I was prepared at the worst, but arrived there (with the exception of common spaces as corridors and reception that could be widely improved....) I have to say that I was impressed by my room, comfortable and clean, not so common at that price. People at the reception are pretty kind and helpful although quite busy. If another time in Birmingham I will stay there again!"

said: "On a positive note the staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were compact and in need of updating, especially the carpets as I feel that was where the fusty smell was coming from. The bathroom was compact but clean. Work covered the cost of my stay, if I had paid I would or definately moved hotels. Wouldn`t stay again."

I then had to wait about half an hour for replacement and was very close to asking for a refund as we had a train to catch."

said: "I did NOT enjoy my stay at the Briar Rose, we came there at about 10.30 pm and got a room on the fifth floor and the elevator was broken so we had to walk all the way up with heavy bags. We got down stairs 10 minutes later to have a bite to eat after a long journey and at the bar they said they didn't serve more food but it was on the wall that it was served till 11 am and in the morning we were going to take a train to NEC we got up early and ordered a breakfast and paid for it and we waited for over 20 minutes and it never came so we had leave to the train and all they said at the bar was "sorry" and we got no food and no money back. To make the stay even better the toilet was very dirty, with a brown mark in it and it was disgusting. We will NEVER EVER stay there again and we would NEVER recommended to an other person even if they were our enemies. "

The main attraction was the location, it is right in the centre of town amongst the best shopping streets and not a 2 minute walk from New street station which takes you to the airport in 15 mins, so it was incredibly convenient for us, no buses or taxi's needed. The staff at the hotel were very nice, friendly and chatty and made us feel most welcome during our stay. We had our hair-dryer replaced immediately when we informed them it was broken. As the Wetherspoons Bar is downstairs its very convenient for cheap drinks and very affordable food. Unfortunately we had no view from our bedroom window and there was a slight odour from the bathroom but this was a very minor inconvenience for us. Overall we will definitely stay there again, and would recommend it to anyone staying for just a few days in Birmingham on a budget. It is excellent value for money considering the location. "

said: "The hotel and staff were really good and helpful, the only problem I had was the lift was broken and I had 94 steps up to the 4th floor and as I am disabled this proved somewhat difficult. "

said: "The lift was broken so had to climb 6 flights of stairs to reach 3rd floor. There was no remote control for the TV."
