The Bannockburn Inn, known locally as The Bannockburn Hotel, is a traditional Inn offering food, drink and self catering accommodation. We are privately owned and pride ourselves on being family friendly. The Inn is a perfect stop for rest and refreshment on your journey north to Orkney or John O`Groats (Taigh Iain Ghròt), or south to Inverness.The Banockburn Inn and restaurant is full of character, located approximately halfway in journey time between Inverness and Scrabster on the A9. We have our own car park and offer safe storage for bikes and provide free Wi-Fi (weather permitting) for our customers. Ideally located for fishing enthusiasts as we are within walking distance of The River Helmsdale for which we are able to provide fishing permits. View permit prices here For the budding cyclist we can offer a bike hire service through Sam’s Bike Shed. (Book in advance so your bikes can be here when you arrive.) Fully equipped kitchens are available in both wings.TravellingFull of character, the Inn and restaurant are located approximately halfway in journey time between Inverness and Scrabster on the A9 at Helmsdale, a 10 minute walking distance from Helmsdale Railway station or across the road from the bus stop. Your journey from Inverness would take approximately 1 hour and 20 mins and approximately 1 hour from Scrabster, Thurso or Wick.Wining and DiningAndy Fordham, the former world darts champion, opened the Tartan Lounge Bar and Restaurant in May 2011, which is recognised for serving award winning steaks from the Mey Selections of whom His Royal Highness The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay is the patron. Early February 2017 our lounge bar and restaurant was newly refurbished.Our lounge bar also provides an ideal meeting place for cyclists on the start or completion of your Lejog or Jogle journeys or for travellers on the NC500, the new North Coast touring route - either way it is time to celebrate with a Mey Selection steak cooked perfectly to your liking. Our restaurant and comfortable lounge bar are suitable for special events, making us ideal for birthday parties and other functions and get-togethers. The restaurant can also be set up as a meeting room or for conferences and training events for up to 25 people. We also cater for funerals with up to 60 guests, buffet style.Our guests can enjoy choosing from our comprehensive menu of starters, main courses and tempting desserts and from our wine list. We also offer a selection of children’s meals. For parties of four or more people, we recommend that you book in advance.
