‘Big Beds and Great Views’ is the strap line for this hotel, this doesn’t even come close. This hotel is within the fabric of Headingly Cricket ground and every room overlooks the ‘hallowed’ ground. Each room is not only numbered but is named for one of its famous cricketers.
The room was very comfortable and the bed enormous, with big picture windows where we could see the ground in all its glory.
Wendy our receptionist was so helpful and friendly; she pointed us in the right direction for dinner, only a short walk from the hotel.
The area of Headingly has much to offer with a range of pubs and restaurants offering a variety of cuisines from Thai to American Barbeque. We ate at Red’s the American Barbeque restaurant, the menu simple but the food was great and the staff helpful and knowledgeable. We bought some of the sauces and the recipe book; barbeques will never be the same!
Breakfast was in the building next door, the staff friendly and helpful and as an added bonus the Rugby Team, Leeds Rhinos were in the breakfast area whilst waiting for the coach to take them to St Helen’s where they unfortunately lost.
The car park is secure and staffed 24 hours, again within the grounds of the stadium. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is a Cricket fan, like my partner, or who wants to use the hotel, as we did, as a base to explore the surrounding countryside, attractions and local towns and such as Harrogate and Fountains Abbey.
