Whitby
Situated on the east coast of Yorkshire. Whitby is a seaside town, civil parish and port in the borough of Scarborough.
Whitby to said to be where Dracula ‘landed’ in England, once home to Caedmon, the earliest English poet and where Captain Cook learnt seamanship.
Whitby is incredibly easy to get around on foot despite it’s hilly terrain, driving around the town is not recommended due to it being very busy and have limited parking spaces, However there is a great bus service around the town and local villages.
Partake in Whitby’s history and get involved in an organized ghost walks around Whitby’s oldest locations, including Whitby Abbey, once home to Caedmon.
If you want a terrifyingly good time make sure you have the Dracula experience, a tunnel modified to look like Dracula’s castle.
If you want more of a relaxed holiday why not climb to old lighthouse or the 199 steps up to St. Mary’s church and Abbey for great views of the town and coast.
Captain Cook museum and Whitby lifeboat museums are also nearby providing a great knowledge of all things Whitby!
