Scarborough
North Yorkshire’s third largest town and a Victorian spa resort that lays upon the North Sea coast.
Strewn with safe sandy beaches and mineral spas, it is one of the great northern seaside resorts that Britain is known for. With an extensive and trustworthy local bus service, Scarborough is increasingly easy to get around.
Visit Scarborough Castle, a former medieval royal fortress dating back to the 1150’s, it attracts visitors all years round to explore the depths of the battlements and take in the idyllic views of the town and involve themselves into interactive exhibitions and the special events run by English Heritage.
Scarborough is home to many landmarks such as the grave of Anne Brontë, one of the notorious Brontë sisters and the only Brontë not to be buried in Haworth. Anne’s grave can be found in St Mary’s Churchyard.
Also home to ‘Oliver’s Mount’ high overlooking ground named after Oliver Cromwell with impressive views of the town, war monument, café, Oliver’s Mount is primarily known for its motorcycle races and holds a music festival known as ‘the future of music’ which celebrates local music.
