The Old Mill Hotel in Motherwell is situated on the banks of the River Calder at the end of Mill Road, only half a mile from the town centre. The building dates back to the 16th century and the Hotel have made a feature of the original mill machinery, which is displayed behind glass panels, telling the 500 year history of the mill in the new public bar. Adding to the atmosphere is the genuine waterwheel that was originally used to power the grain mill using the force of the River Calder as it came over the waterfall.
Motherwell is in an ideal location within Lanarkshire in Central Scotland. The main artery motorways in Scotland, the M74 and M8 are all minutes drive away, and we are within 40 minutes drive of Scotland's three main airports - Edinburgh, Glasgow International and Glasgow Prestwick.
The Old Mill Hotel has always had an enviable reputation for food, and our meals can be enjoyed in the Granary Restaurant, Millers bar or al-fresco beside the river and waterfall. We boast spectacular gardens for sunny days enjoying a drink or dining outside.
The Granary Restaurant is open for lunch on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and there is something for everyone on our new menu, and also a fine wine list to choose from to compliment your food.
The Miller Bar opens daily from noon serving delicious bar food all day. We have a wide selection of food at the bar, and if it is more convenient on a lunch break, why not call and book your order and it will be waiting for you when you arrive.
Our function suite overlooking the gardens and the waterfall caters for up to 160 guests and is always popular with weddings, christenings, birthday parties and all other occasions. The suite has its own bar and dance floor.
We also cater for Conference and Meetings, and your arrangement can be a booking price per head, or room hire.
We are happy to plan your special occasion in our function suite around your particular needs and preferences. Equipment Hire can be arranged and we can arrange decoration and flowers if you wish.
We offer guests staying overnight, after a function, preferential rates for bed and breakfast. Ask us for details. Our car parks are fully covered by CCTV cameras.
