The Trout Hotel has been the centre of the attractive market town of Cockermouth for many years. Unique in its setting on the banks of the famous River Derwent in this beautiful corner of the Lake District.
Dating from circa 1670, the hotel was originally built as a private residence belonging to the local Egremont Estate, and has been extended over the years before becoming a hotel in 1934.
The hotel's own gardens further enhance its enviable position by the river and have achieved recognition by winning the "Cumbria in Bloom Rosebowl Award" in 1989 and more recently in 1996.
