Fantastic
I went on Infotel.co.uk to book at the Hotel Du Vin Newcastle, a hotel in Newcastle Upon Tyne. For such a busy area I thought we were lucky to find such a good value hotel. I have no complaints about the hotel. The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean and I enjoyed the breakfast. I would definitely stay there again. Reviewed by Paul Murphy on 5 Dec 2013

On the banks of the River Tyne and commanding outstanding views of Newcastle Quayside and bridges. This former home of the Tyne Tees Steam Shipping Company has been gloriously converted into 42 timelessly styled bedrooms, trademark bistro, intriguing Laroche tasting room, two stunning private dining rooms, Bubble bar, courtyard for alfresco dining and an outstanding wine cellar.

Housed within this impressive building are 42 timelessly styled bedrooms and stunning suites, all featuring luxurious hand sprung mattresses, fine Egyptian linen, deep baths and powerful drench showers, plasma TVs, DVD player and air conditioning.

At the heart of the hotel is Bistro du Vin, a classic, elegant and informal setting for lunch or dinner. The à la carte menu boasts a great grill section with delicious dry aged steaks that have been matured for at least 28 days, but the menu's main influence is a nod to the classics of French bistro dining in its choices for all courses. On the reverse of the à la carte menu there is also a slimmed down selection of great wines for all palates and purses. However, there is always the full Hotel du Vin expansive wine list to choose from should diners wish. The dessert menu helpfully suggests wine or digestive pairings.

Privacy can be a wonderful thing, imagine no interruptions, no hustle and certainly no bustle. Now picture that same peaceful retreat complemented with stunning art adorning the walls, a plethora of quirky features and a carefully selected group of colleagues, friends or family. Whether you book Bridge or Shipyard you won't be disappointed. Looking for the secret to memorable get togethers? Dine privately du Vin.

The largest of our rooms is the Shipyard which seats up to 22 people and faces out towards the Quayside benefiting from an abundance of natural daylight as well as interesting features such as exposed brickwork, theatrical curtains and a 'wineglass' chandelier as its centrepiece which through the day is flooded with natural daylight, then as the evening closes in and the curtains are drawn it transforms into a cosy intimate, softly lit oasis for you and your friends.

The Bridge is an incredibly distinctive room that can seat up to 10 people. With a huge bespoke mural covering one of its walls and is perfect for smaller gatherings, this quirky, atmospheric room still retains its intimacy and is the perfect setting for those long overdue get togethers.

Breathtaking, bespoke meeting and events spaces to inspire, to think, to bring great purpose, but most of all be memorable. Hotel du Vin & Bistro Newcastle is offering you just that. This former home to the Tyne Tees Steam Shipping Company has been gloriously converted into Hotel du Vin Newcastle, located near to the Quayside, it houses two stunning meeting and events rooms, the Shipyard and the Bridge, all with high speed complimentary Wi-Fi, LCD projectors and a dedicated events organiser.

The largest of our rooms is the Shipyard which accommodates up to 30 people and faces out towards the Quayside benefiting from an abundance of natural daylight as well as interesting features such as exposed brickwork, theatrical curtains and a 'wineglass' chandelier as its centre piece that will leave you feeling truly inspired.

Sublime. One word to express the greatest of all days. With exquisite private rooms, gorgeous suites, a tranquil courtyard, heavenly dining and your own dedicated events organiser, there can be no more fitting a stage as you glide elegantly from ceremony to wedding breakfast and beyond. Hotel du Vin is the perfect venue for weddings and civil partnerships. For your Big Day. Think du Vin.

United by seven bridges across a spectacular riverscape, Newcastle (a city on the north bank of the River Tyne) and Gateshead (a town on the south bank) form a single, diverse and extremely vibrant visitor destination. With so many different areas each offering new sights, sounds and experiences, you'll be amazed at how much is on offer whatever your tastes. World-class culture, vibrant nightlife, award-winning dining, inspiring heritage, fantastic shopping and acclaimed architecture are linked here, as nowhere else, by the famous Geordie spirit which flows throughout Newcastle Gateshead and is symbolised by Antony Gormley's iconic Angel of the North as it welcomes travellers to the area.

With fantastic shopping provided by Eldon Square, one of the UK's largest city centre shopping complex, and Gateshead's Metro centre offering visitors heaps of choice as Europe's largest indoor shopping and leisure complex, you might have trouble deciding where to start! Even the most individual shopper will find something to suit them in boutique-lined High Bridge Street or the fashion-conscious suburb of Jesmond which, only a short walk from the city centre or an even shorter Metro ride, is awash with bars, restaurants and hotels to re-fuel when you shop 'till you drop!

The Quayside is a spectacular area day and night with Gateshead's iconic Millennium Bridge, the world's first and only tilting bridge, linking Newcastle and Gateshead for pedestrians and cyclists. Gateshead's BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art is an art-lover's dream, whilst Newcastle's array of riverside bars, pubs, clubs and restaurants, paired with The Sage Gateshead's diverse programme of musical events, ensure you'll be well catered for through daylight to nightlife.
