Our beautiful country house was built in 1899 as the six-bedroomed retreat of a Victorian Gentleman. Nestling in almost three acres of natural secluded gardens, in the heart of the English Lake District at Bowness on Windermere, it enjoys a truly superb elevated location. The Hotel was founded in 1971 and has already celebrated its Silver Jubilee under the same family ownership.
It has now been extended to thirty-seven individually designed bedrooms. The Hotel offers a host of facilities, all for the sole enjoyment of our own guests. There is an extensive range of leisure facilities on site at Hillthwaite house, all of which are provided for the exclusive use of our guests. Our pool is heated to over 80°F, perfect for relaxing in after a busy day.
