We are a small family run hotel, situated just 10 minutes walk to Carlisle city centre. The building itself dates back to the 1850’s, so has plenty of charm and character retaining many original features. It has undergone an extensive programme of refurbishment ensuring guests have all the modern facilities they require during their stay.

We are situated in the North part of Carlisle where we have our foundations literally on Hadrian’s Wall.

Our tariff is based on bed and breakfast with the option of an evening meal in our informal dining area.

Almonds, is our informal licensed restaurant where your breakfast is served. It is also open to non-residents for private functions. We cook everything fresh to order and use local quality suppliers. For larger parties we offer special menus and can cater up to 25 people (sitting) & 40 people (buffet).

Travelling
By Car from the M6
Take junction 44 and follow signs for the A7, towards Carlisle City Centre. We are on the left hand side of the road, approximately 2 miles from Junction 44, closest to the City Centre. Turn left just after the hotel for free parking. A free permit can be obtained from reception.

By Car from the A69
Follow signs for Carlisle North A689 signposted Houghton, Carlisle Airport, Linstock, Hexham.

At the next roundabout take the last exit (B6264) and follow the road into town (Brampton Road). Continue for two miles until you reach the Cumbria Institute of the Arts on the right. Turn right at this junction (Well Lane) and follow the road until you reach a small car park on the corner. A free permit can be obtained from reception.

By Rail:
A 5 minute taxi ride will get you to the hotel from Carlisle’s Citadel Station
