Arundell Arms Hotel

Fore Street, Lifton, Devon PL16 0AA - United Kingdom
Booking Line: +44 (0)1775 843417

The Arundell Arms exudes warmth and comfort - not only in the sitting room but in the bar with its buzz of talk about the events of the day, in the bedrooms with their private bathrooms, colour television, direct dial telephones, and in small thoughtful things such as the home-made chocolates placed in the sitting room for the guests after dinner and the vases of fresh flowers.

From the sitting room you can see the 250-year old cockpit, one of the few remaining in England now the hotel’s rod and fishing tackle room, and the terraced garden where swifts and swallows soar over your head as you enjoy a drink in the evening sun. Around the quadrangle of the car park there is a skittle alley for children as well as grown-ups, meeting rooms , and the locals’ bar . People come to the Arundell Arms to fish and shoot and go riding, to walk, play golf, go bird watching, and to enjoy some of the loveliest country in England. The hotel, an old coaching inn on a site which dates back to Saxon times, is in a valley of five rivers, close to the uplands of Dartmoor. Not far away are the wonderful surfing beaches of the north Cornish coast, the ruins of Tintagel Castle, and the ancient fishing villages of Boscastle and Port Isaac where you can hire boats or pick your own fresh lobsters from their cages in the fish market.
