With 8 cosy bedrooms above a wonderful traditional Young's pub on the river, the Riverside Inn offers you the warmest welcome in Essex Dating back to the mid-17th century, the Riverside Inn stands on the site of the old Springfield Mill on the River Chelmer, and still features the original mill stream running underneath, exposed original oak beams, and an 8 foot spur wheel. Chelmsford town centre, cathedral and main line station are only 5 minutes walk from the hotel, and with trains running in to London's Liverpool Street Station every 10 minutes, the Riverside Inn is ideally situated whether you are having a drink, dining with us or staying the night.

The Riverside Inn offers something to suit all tastes when it comes to our menu, and guests can choose to eat in the traditional Riverside bar, or our first floor restaurant. Weather permitting, guests can also enjoy their meal in the smartly decked riverside garden overlooking the River Chelmer. The menu offers a range of mouthwatering modern cuisine to traditional British favourites, plus bar snacks, sandwiches and lighter options for those who aren’t so hungry. Sunday lunch at the Riverside is legendary so please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

All of our 8 bedrooms at the Riverside Inn are beautifully refurbished in a traditional style, cleverly fitted in and around the exposed oak beams. Every bedroom has its own private en-suite bathroom. All of our bedrooms also have a television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer, direct dial telephone and modem connection. All of our prices include a full English breakfast.
