Description

The George Hotel is a 14th Century-16th Century Coaching Inn, with lots of character with many original features. Offering an excellent standard of accommodation and service both to business and leisure traveller. You are made to feel very welcome as soon as you step inside and a return visit is ensured. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms. There is a newly refurbished restaurant with a non-smoking dining room (pictured) for bar meals, Sunday lunches and evening menu. There is an extensive new menu specialising in West Country dishes dating as far back as the 1700' s. All meals are freshly prepared on the premises, with fresh good quality local ingredients. Traditional English or Continental Breakfasts are cooked to order,or for a small extra charge you can opt for our popular alternative menu,including scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, Kippers, Deviled Kidneys and more for a superb breakfast experience. The restaurant is available for weddings and functions. Please note: a deposit of £10 per night is required at time of booking. Please note: Any breakages, damage to furniture, carpets etc will be charged for. All rooms are non-smoking , we rserve the right to charge for cleaning if this rule is broken.

We hold Quiz Night every Wednessday, Kareoke once a month and 60's 70's & 80's Disco nights

We are within 4 miles of the famous & stunning Mendip Hills & Cheddar Gorge where you can indilge in many outdoor activities, why not explore the caves, our beautiful moors and the Somerset Levels home of some beautiful nature reserves

Stuff for kids
The George has a large walled garden where children can play to their hearts content, our childrens menu offers some delicious healthy options using local meats & veg, fresh fruit, smoothies, juices or milk. We have travel cots and offer a listening service if you want a night out. Please ask for details, this service needs booking in advance.

Love and marriage
If you are planning a wedding at the Beautiful St Mary's Church next to The George where better to celebrate than in this unspoilt 14th & 16th Century Coaching Inn, we can offer seated receptions for up to 50 in our King Alfred Restaurant, or for larger receptions we can offer a marquee in our walled garden.
