History and welcome The Whyte Harte is a friendly family run hotel or, more accurately, an inn, decorated and furnished to a high standard. We offer excellent accommodation in beautiful rural surroundings, and look forward to offering you a warm welcome whether for a night’s stay before flying or if you are on business, or even if it is a weekend away for relaxation. We are also an ideal location for weddings and receptions; in fact in summer time we are known as the “wedding village” There is a bridal shop and florists available nearby in the village. The Whyte Harte is situated in a beautiful historic village called Bletchingley, which dates back as far as Roman times. Bletchingley was once a very busy market town, and since 1388 there has been some form of a public house or inn. The original building would have been made from wood and subsequently been burnt down after too many a fine ale, on those cold and wintry nights. There are still original features, which can be seen today, original beams over 1000 years old, an original fire grate from 1613 and a baker’s oven in the recess of the “private dinning room” and the original old cobbled bricks. There are still 3 working fireplaces, the main one being “chimneys corner” which has great sofas to relax around. As late as 18th Century the premises were used for so-called “rotten” parliamentary elections. Bletchingley returning two members to parliament while a large city like Manchester returning none.

DIRECTIONS The Whyte Harte is situated on the A25 in between Godstone and Redhill. From the M25 it is a short 5-minute car journey off junction 6. We are also a 15-minute car journey from Gatwick airport, making the south coast and London easy access from the M25. Our nearest train station is Redhill with a bus service throughout the day.
