Following on from a full refurbishment in Spring 2008, the Bear has reopened as a Marston’s Inn. Each of our 25 rooms has luxurious bedding, flatscreen TVs with a choice of digital channels and tea and coffee making facilities. We also offer free wi-fi throughout the pub and rooms for our guests to use.
We also have 2 function rooms, the small syndicate Garden Room which accommodates 12 people and the Sedgemoor Suite which can cater for up to 30.
There is plenty to keep you entertained in the local area, being close to the Cheddar Caves, Wookey Hole and the nearby cathedral city of Wells. Street is also home to the Clarkes Village factory outlet, offering discounted shopping on your doorstep.
The heart and soul of the hotel remains the pub itself, offering traditional surroundings and serving a range of freshly prepared dishes all day. The Bear Inn was built in 1894 by William Stephens Clark (eldest son of James Clark, co-founder of the famous Clarks Shoes Company). To match the charm of its Victorian exterior, the interior of The Bear Inn has been magnificently refurbished to return the hotel to its former Victorian style and glory.
