Completed in 1899- the hotel is rich in architecture with its baroque plasterwork- vaulted ceilings- exotically wood paneled public rooms and elaborate fireplaces. In years gone by it is said to be the inspiration for Kenneth Graemes toad of Toad Hall in his book Wind in the Willows and regularly welcomed royal visitors but today the mansion welcomes everyone.
