The Fowey Hotel Cornwall is privately owned and renowned for its friendly, relaxed atmosphere and high standards. Many of the individually decorated en suite bedrooms offer panoramic views as do all of the public rooms.
The hotel is set in attractive gardens and also has a second, beautifully landscaped garden area just across the Esplanade, right by the water's edge. In this garden one can enjoy a traditional Cornish Cream Tea on lazy summer days or, alternatively, from the hotel's pretty terrace overlooking the gardens and water.
The Fowey's restaurant has retained the coveted 2 AA Rosette award for exceptional food since 1997 and an extensive wine list compliments every menu, which changes daily. The menus offer a choice of dishes using the best of Cornish produce based on what is seasonally available, all of which are skilfully prepared by a very experienced kitchen brigade led by Master Chef Mark Griffiths. A comprehensive Bar menu is also available at lunchtimes and in the evenings.
Over the years The Fowey Hotel has welcomed many famous and notable guests, many of whom considered the hotel to be almost a second home. Operating as a hotel for most of its life, the hotel had a breather during both World Wars being used during WW1 as a convalescent home for wounded soldiers and as a billet for American Naval officers during WW11. The Fowey Hotel is one of Cornwalls finest Hotels.
The Fowey Hotel occupies a special place in the hearts of local people through its dramatic position on the west bank of the River Fowey with panoramic views of the estuary and, across the water, the village of Polruan.
Originally built in 1882, this classic 'grand hotel' has been elegantly refurbished by Ann and Keith Richardson, its current owners, to provide a Cornish homage to comfort and service. New bedrooms have been added, reception rooms, hallways and corridors restored, gardens tended and re-planted all to provide a luxurious setting for your visit to this rich area of Cornwall.
