Situated in the heart of West Sussex and in a local conservation area, the Chequers Hotel stands high on a sandstone ridge facing across the beautiful Arun Valley and the South Downs beyond. The hotel recently came under new ownership and has since undergone extensive development. The Chequers is ideal for a short break or a longer holiday. Whatever your interests, there is something for everyone: explore the tiny villages and countryside around the chalk downs, visit historic castles and houses, wander through beautiful gardens, paddle in the sea at Brighton or Worthing, back a winner at Goodwood, find a bargain in the antique shops of Brighton, Petworth or Arundel, walk the South Downs or mountain-bike through the secluded country lanes. Please note: the hotel does not accept single night stays during peak season.

We offer stylish and sumptuous cuisine to suit all tastes, and use local products and suppliers wherever possible to provide our guests with a memorable dining experience from our A la carte menu. Our wine list is hand picked and selected by a sommelier, giving both enhanced quality and value. The brasserie conservatory is the perfect place for morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and evening meals.
