The Craven Heifer is situated at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales & for over 200 years has served the needs of travellers. Its very first customers were the drovers bringing their livestock down the dale to market in Skipton and through to the present day it has retained its reputation for a warm welcome and exceptional hospitality. It retains its Country Inn traditions offering cask ales, superb home cooking and full en suite accommodation.
Skipton is a delightful market town situated at the southern end of the Yorkshire Dales. Its name derives from the Saxon word for sheep, its foundation based on the trade of livestock and wool. The town is featured in the Doomsday Book.
The Craven Heifer is set amongst fields and meadows enjoying superb panoramic views of the local hills including Sharphaw and Crookrise.Today, Skipton attracts visitors from all over the world to see its historic castle, the market and the beautiful surrounding countryside.

We are able to offer 19 rooms, 14 of which are on the ground floor. 16 of our rooms are en suite. Family rooms are also available. All the rooms feature Remote Control TVs, Tea & Coffee Making Facilities, Hairdryers, Radio Alarms and Shaver Sockets. We are assessed as suitable for Category 3 Disabled by the Yorkshire Tourist Board.
