The Sheriff Lodge prides itself on being the very best Guest House that they can possibly be. All rooms feature beds that are seven feet long so if you are tall or simply like the idea of lots of space to relax in, Sheriff Lodge is for you. The breakfast is second to none and features an 'a la carte' menu from which you can choose as much or as little as you like. If you choose all of the menu you will get 14 items on a 12 inch plate - which should set you up at least until lunchtime! Sheriff Lodge, a non-smoking establishment, is situated on a hill and offers spectacular views over to the hills opposite towards Riber Castle. Parts of this beautiful building date back to 1754 and it stands in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales, making it an ideal base for exploring the Peak District National Park and surrounding countryside with its numerous attractions. In a former life it was a hotel, and those of you that remember wonderful, restful, stays within its walls will not be disappointed by a visit to its present incarnation as an equally well appointed bed and breakfast. Sheriff Lodge offers unrivalled luxury and is a perfect place to celebrate that special occasion or just to have a relaxing holiday. A memorable stay at Sheriff Lodge starts as soon as you arrive, you will be offered Tea (from a wide selection) or Coffee and cakes and cookies - always welcome after a long journey (by road, air or rail). If you need it we also offer free wireless internet access over an 8Mb broadband line. Traveling
From the South - take the M1 to Junction 28, take the A38 towards Derby and then the A615 to Matlock. In Matlock you will reach a traffic roundabout with a stainless steel crown at its centre, take the second exit on the roundabout towards Bakewell. Take the next road on the right - this is Dimple Road and Sheriff Lodge is 250 yds up Dimple Road on the left. From the North follow the A6 into Matlock until you reach a traffic roundabout at a bridge. Take the first exit from this roundabout into the Town Centre and Dimple Road is the first on the right.

Outdoor adventure
We are on the edge of the second most visited National Park in the World (outside Mount Fuji, in Japan). The Peak District is Great Britain's first National Park and caters for a wide variety of activities from walking to paragliding. If you get wet carrying out any of the activities just let us know and we'll dry off your clothes in our drying room.

Stuff for kids
If you are looking for a place to stay with the kids then Sheriff Lodge is right up your street. We have a family suite which is downstairs from our Drawing Room and consists of two rooms, one with a double bed and one with a double sofs bed (and a folding bed if you need one). Ita lso has Sky TV, two TVs both of which have DVD players, one of which is connected to a Playstation One.
