Hotel Description
  Description

The Fox & Hounds at Slapewath is a late Victorian building situated approximately two miles from Guisborough on the A171 road to Whitby, and stands on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. A favoured destination for many business travellers due to its convenient location for the tees valley business community. Alternately a perfectly situated destination for relaxing amongst the beautiful attractions north Yorkshire has to offer. This family run country establishment has returned to traditional values becoming a much sort after venue with an excellent reputation for good quality food and drink at affordable prices. This fifteen bedroom inn offers comfortable, restful rooms for long or short breaks.

Slapewath (meaning slippery crossing in old English) was a railway station on the Guisborough to Saltburn line until axed in the 1950's and the pub would no doubt have been used by passengers waiting for or alighting from their destinations. The original building has been greatly extended since the nineteen hundreds but has kept all of its character and charm. The Fox and Hounds now houses a ninety cover Dining Room, which is famous for its large plate carvery. An eighty cover Restaurant which is ideal for functions and fifteen stylish en suite bedrooms. This family run hotel has been awarded a three star rating with the tourism council and is striving to gain a fourth star this coming year.

The dining room and restaurant both have excellent reputations for being professionally run serving good quality homemade food at reasonable prices. All food is locally sourced and prepared to order. The menus available offers a broad choice of dishes for anyone who might like a lighter lunch to a more serous affair. The Fox & Hounds restaurants is a superb place to host a weddings and other functions. Our less informal surroundings means guests are able to relax and enjoy the day with ease as our friendly hospitality offers a tailor made event for you. Please contact our events co-ordinate for information.

The fifteen bedrooms at The Fox & Hounds vary in style and size but are all very comfortable, offering facilities including colour televisions with ‘hotel vision’, direct dial telephones and tea & coffee making facilities. Room service is available as well as hair dryers and ironing facilities etc on request. Breakfast times are as follows Monday - Friday 7am - 9.30am Saturday - Sunday 7.30am - 9.30 am Bank holiday Monday 8.30 am - 9.30 am Early breakfasts and lunch packs maybe are available on request, please arrange with reception.
