"From the first minute we walked into the Grouse & Claret we were made to feel very welcome. Everyone, from the Landlord & Landlady & all other staff were polite, pleasant & well mannered. The menu was extensive without being too much or complicated, if you wanted something different it was no problem & you could mix & match if that's what you wanted. Breakfast was excellent & really set you up for the rest of the day. My partner & I stayed here so we could go peak walking, we even thought we might loose a pound or two, but with the portions here there was no chance!!! We would especially recommend the Steak & Ale pie, just don't have any lunch if you want it for dinner. Overall we both recommend this friendly, clean hotel as a base if you like walking or visiting the many country homes in the area. "

Description

Following on from a full rooms refurbishment, the Grouse and Claret reopened in Spring 2008 as a Marston's Inn. The pub itself is a beautiful 18th century building and offers 8 en-suite rooms within the building, decorated to a high standard and offering tea and coffee making facilities, flatscreen digital TVs with over 40 channels, luxurious bedding and free wi-fi in the rooms. Our superb breakfast is always complimentary to our guests and includes a range of cooked options as well as a continental offer. The Grouse & Claret is located at the gateway to the Peak District National Park on the A6 between Matlock and Bakewell. The location makes it an ideal base for tourists exploring the region and is also a convenient base for business travellers, being within easy reach of Chesterfield, Sheffield, Derby and Manchester are easily accessible from the Grouse & Claret. The heart and soul of the hotel remains the pub itself and you can be sure to find something to tempt you from our extensive menu which is available all day. Our selection of hot meals include pub classics as well as a constantly changing selection of specials. We have a range of specially selected wines along with cask ales and a choice of soft drinks, tea and coffee.
